Secrets of Dumbledore fixes most of the crucial issues its predecessors were plagued with (most noticeable in a better balance in tone between the truly dark and really fun and lighthearted moments - as well as a much more subdued and approachable yet at the same time genuinely intimidating Grindelwald) but still lacks colour and the magical whimsy from the early potter movies (mostly due to locations and wardrobe that feel just too mundane) even though fans were treated to a ton of delightful callbacks to the Wizarding World movies that came before. And while it doesn’t break the movie, an otherwise mysterious yet eventually clear and satisfying plot is dragged down by the disappointingly vague resolution to the blood pact storyline and an anticlimactic ending that couldn’t go as bold as it should have because it had to cater to a premature end of the series (considering all the turmoil surrounding Rowling, some of the actors involved and the failure of the second movie) as well as to potential sequels.
