Auch wenn Chibnalls Markenzeichen, schwierige Sackgassen in den Handlungssträngen zu umschiffen, indem er einfach nicht erklärt, was vor sich geht, und verworren faszinierende Geschichten zu entwickeln, nur um sie dann in letzter Minute unspektakulär aufzulösen, immer noch allgegenwärtig sind und die einzelnen Elemente von Flux weit besser sind als das große Ganze, ist Staffel 13 doch eine enorme Verbesserung gegenüber Jodies ersten beiden Staffeln, die das hohe Niveau der visuellen Effekte beibehält und den Zuschauern wieder Helden und Schurken bietet, die ihnen wirklich am Herzen liegen - vor allem aber eine Doktorin, der es endlich wieder Spaß macht zuzusehen - und genial denkwürdige Momente, die einen stets die nächste Folge herbeisehnen lassen.
Even though Chibnall’s writing hallmarks of copping out of difficult story dead ends by simply not explaining what’s going on and creating convoluted and intriguing storylines only to barely resolve them with a lacklustre last-minute conclusion are still omnipresent and make Flux less than the sum of its parts, Series 13 is a tremendous improvement over Jodie’s first two series that retains the high standard of its visual effects and returns to providing the viewer with heroes and villains they actually care for - most importantly, a Doctor who’s finally fun to watch again - and ingeniously memorable moments that keep you at the edge of your seat until the next episode.
