Die Episoden von What If...? variieren stark in ihrer erzählerischen Qualität, wobei einige wenige richtig großartig, eine schwer zu ertragen und der Großteil lediglich Mittelmaß ist. Allen gemeinsam ist jedoch, dass sie sich gehetzt anfühlen, sowohl in Bezug auf die Episoden selbst, als auch was die übergreifende Geschichte angeht, die viel zu spät eingeführt wird - und ein Animations-Stil, der im besten Fall wenig überzeugend und im schlimmsten Fall fast schon störend schlecht ist.
What If...?‘s episodes vary greatly in their quality of storytelling, with some being quite brilliant, one hardly watchable and the great bulk merely adequate, but they all have in common that they feel rushed, both in terms of the episodes themselves as well as the overall story in particular which is introduced way too late — and an art style and animation that’s underwhelming at best and almost distractingly bad at its worst.
